A fine and unusual Regency period, rosewood veneered, brass bound writing slope with document folder brass screw topped inkwells, original and quite unusual lock and key, and three concealed drawers.
Beautiful looking writing slope in Rosewood with excellent patina, grain and colour.
Brass edging, stringing, cartouche (inscribed E.S. & G.S. 1904), ornate key escutcheon and flush fitting carrying handles.
Some minor knocks and scratches but nothing of note. Please study the numerous photos as they are an important part of the description.
Inside there are 2 inkwell compartments, lidded compartment for spare nibs etc, pen tray and lidded stamp slope.
The secret drawers are accessed by removing the lid from the stamp slope and lifting the divider between the stamp slope and pen tray to reveal 4 secret drawers.
Within the lid are daily compartments when this is dropped open it to reveal a stationery wallet as per photograph.
Both sets of hinges are in good order as is the “Thompson & Morgan” flush fitting lock.
A new leather skiver has been fitted to the writing surfaces and new baize to protect furniture when in use or on display.
A box in amazing condition considering it’s 115 years age!
